1976 TETON DAM DISASTER
The Teton Dam broke June 5, 1976 at 11:57a.m. releasing some 250,000 acre feet of water. The ensuing flood killed at least nine people, injured more than a thousand, inudated 400,000 acres, devastated several communities, and caused more that $1 billion in damage.
