BIRD WATCHING

Nesting bald eagles, osprey, blue heron, pelican, cormorant, king fisher, swan, goose & duck are just a few of the species one can view daily along the Henry's Fork. Many songbird species are native to the area or can be seen during seasonal migrations.

1976 TETON DAM DISASTER

The Teton Dam broke June 5, 1976 at 11:57a.m. releasing some 250,000 acre feet of water. The ensuing flood killed at least nine people, injured more than a thousand, inudated 400,000 acres, devastated several communities, and caused more that $1 billion in damage.

Saint Anthony is the center of a recreational and scenic area of Idaho that included the famed Henry's Fork of the Snake River and some of the best fishing in the world, the unique Sand dunes, Sand creek Wildlife Management Area, Teton Dam site, fort Henry, (the first white settlement in Idaho). the historic Fremont county Courthouse, historic bridges, fertile farm ground and much more. saint Anthony is one of the stops along the Fort henry historic Byway. Easy day trips from Saint Anthony include Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, Spencer Opal Mines, Mesa Falls, Johnny sack Cabin, Big Springs, Mount Sawtelle, Camas Meadows battleground, Mount Borah, Craters of the Moon National Monument, Quake Lake, Sacajawea birthplace and more. Make Saint Anthony the hub for your vacation in Yellowstone - Teton Territory.

FISHING

Drop a line into the Henry's Fork from Clyde Keefer Memorial Park in downtown Saint Anthony or anywhere along the river. Great fishing is available within a short drive at the Sand Creek Wildlife Management Area, Chester Dam, Jim's Boat Dock or fishing accesses maintained by Fremont County.

SWIMMING ON THE RIVER

The Saint Anthony Sand Bar is a roped-off swimming spot and sandy beach on the Henry's Fork just blocks from downtown, offering playground and picnic area, water slide and diving board. Float the Henry's Fork in tubes or rafts.

Please obey posted warnings about dangerous water conditions.

SKATER'S HAVEN PARK

Skateboard Haven, ten blocks west of downtown, is a complex of concrete and steel for the beginner or advanced boarders. The complex abuts the Westside Ballpark where well maintained softball, basketball and soccer fields are available for open play.

Saint Anthony Living Sand Dunes

The Saint Anthony Sand Dunes, within five miles of downtown, provide recreational opportunities for ATV and sand rail enthusiasts, families looking for a place to picnic and play in the sand, horseback riders, bikers, photographers and others on dunes rising as high as 500 feet from the valley floor.

A public campground and two private resorts offer camping, picnicking and day-use areas. Egin Lakes at the BLM access are shallow ponds providing a cool respite from the desert heat.
