ST. ANTHONY – Fun, food and prizes will be offered to the public on Friday, July 11, at a Rally for the Emporium.

Stockholders have been invited to share their motivation for buying stock in the community-owned clothing store, and the public is invited for an evening of fun to learn more about the Emporium.

“There are a lot of rumors out there about the store and the sale of stock, and we want to set the record straight,” said Rex Powell, CEO for the Fremont Emporium Inc. “We are selling stock, we fully intend to pay dividends, and this is a community project that doesn’t involve the city or county government.”

The rally will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. outside at the Fremont Emporium office at 105 North Bridge, St. Anthony, next to the Fremont County Annex. A portion of First North will be blocked off to make room for picnic tables and the musicians providing the music for the evening. Hamburgers, hot dogs, salads and desserts will be served, free of charge, and door prizes will be awarded throughout the evening.

Anyone considering the purchase of stock can get answers to their questions about any aspect of the Emporium and buying shares. Shares can be purchased at the rally. The Emporium board has set a goal of selling the stock by July 24 to ensure that the former J.C. Penney building can be secured for the store and to be able to open in time for the holidays.

However, under its authorization from the Idaho Department of Finance, the board has another four months to sell the minimum offering of 1,000 shares.

The board recently set its summer hours for the Emporium office to be open for the purchase of stock. The office at 105 North Bridge will be staffed Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
